The pursuit began around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, when a deputy spotted a northbound vehicle on Catlett Road clocked at 67 mph in a 45-mph zone, officials said.

When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver hit the gas, passing cars over double yellow lines and speeding toward Meetze Road, where he drove into oncoming traffic at dangerously high speeds.

The deputy, slowing to avoid endangering other motorists, briefly lost sight of the vehicle but later saw it turn onto Casanova Road, investigators said.

The driver finally came to a stop in the 4400 block, where deputies held all three occupants at gunpoint. As backup arrived, they took the driver into custody, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.

Authorities identified the suspect as Bryan Martinez, 24, of Prince William County, who was driving without a valid license and had outstanding misdemeanor warrants in Prince William County, officials said.

Martinez was arrested and charged with:

  • Felony eluding;
  • Reckless driving by speed;
  • Reckless driving – general;
  • Driving on a revoked license.

He was taken to the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
